U.S. Govt. aid to anti-Gay Christian groups in Africa expose by CNN.
Why aren't Gays investigating and questioning governement government aid to anti-Gay Christian groups overseas. When these anti-Gay groups being defended. WE NEED TO DO MORE THAN SHARE MEMES.
This is the article on CNN.
Quoting from the article:
Accra, Ghana (CNN)An exclusive CNN investigation has found that some Western governments who pledged to support LGBTQI+ rights have also funded supporters of a controversial bill in Ghana that could introduce harsh sentences for advocating for sexual and gender minorities' rights.
In the five years up to 2021, at least $5 million in aid from Europe and the US went to projects run by or benefiting churches in Ghana whose leaders have backed this bill and have a long track-record of anti-LGBTQI+ statements and activities, according to CNN's analysis of financial data and communication with the donors.
Not a single Gay atheist group or activist was involved or brought up this issue.
I am sure there are other instances where anti-Gay churches are getting U.S.aid. The push back might be that it takes a lot of time and effort to do this research. I suspect that a Gay atheist group could do some research and find some instances and ask that what we do find going to anti-Gay churches be stopped.
Also, when Christian groups come running to the U.S. State Department complaining that they are being persecuted, we should ask whether they are groups that have been or seek to persecute Gays or support the persecution of Gays by a foreign government. If they do campaign against Gays, then their greivance really isn’t about human rights but about them not being the instutiton deciding who will be persecuted. They shouldn’t get support.
I think atheist Gays could do a lot more than sitting around and posting memes making fun of religion on Facebook or Twitter.
This action by the reporters will probably have a big impact on Christian groups that hope to get aid or being involved with the distribution of aid in Africa. It will likely be noticed by other parts of the world where Christians will have to think twice whether they should go on some anti-Gay campaign.
It is time we get organized and go out and kick back against anti-Gay Christians.
